What can you communicate in four characters? When does a grid of lights become a display? Can a "digital" display carry some of the same indexical weight that a handwritten note might?
These are some of the questions this light matrix attempts to address. Computer numerically cut from a solid piece of Douglas Fir, the fine grain of the wood serves as a foil for the simple but contemporary complex of electronics cut into the cavities of the block of wood.
